Bob Holt
Bob’s our sticks man. He’s drummed his way from forming the original band right through to the present day line-up. He says it’s the best Amnesia he’s ever been in.
Shy and unassuming, most of the noise Bob makes comes from his drum kit or from revving up his motorbike, his other great passion. Not content with cruising round the UK though, he rode the Arctic Circle a couple of years ago. He’s always been a do-er and has been involved in some pretty cool hobbies including speed-skating, trials riding and drag-racing. His contacts in the biker community led to us playing gigs for the Harley Club – and they can be pretty wild affairs let me tell you.
Simon GoddardSimon plays lead guitar and also sings backing vocals. He is heavily into Rock and Blues and has been around the gig scene for a lot of years in various different bands. As a result his repertoire is pretty damned amazing! Think of a song and Simon will come up with chords – as long as it hasn’t come from Kylie Minogue’s greatest hits album!
He plays vintage Tokai Strats which, as many guitarists will agree, are greatly under-estimated instruments and more than a match for their Fender inspirations. He also has a 70's Arbiter Les Paul Junior replica which he brings out on special occasions, birthdays, bahmittsvas etc.
For amplification he uses his trusty Marshall JMP50 combo but keeps a Selmer as well as a Sessionette in reserve. He also uses a Fulltone OCD digital overdrive pedal and a Jim Dunlop Cry Baby Wah-wah pedal for those special ‘Jimi’ moments. “look what I’ve just got off ebay – a real snip at a hundred quid!” His long-suffering wife, Bev, must wonder what the Postman’s going to bring next.
Pete Gales
Pete plays bass... That’s all anyone needs to know about a bass player. They are the unsung heroes. There to make the numbers up etc, etc. Sometimes referred to as the budgie of a band because you forget they are there until they keel over! That said - without a tight rhythm section a rock band is nothing. Melodic guitar solos and clever harmonies fall flat on their faces unless they're backed up with solid grooves and punchy low frequency oomph! Then theres the dancin' - of course we're not talkin' about Pete's dancin' (but keep watchin him - he does a bit of movin' and a groovin' when he thinks nobody is watching)...So when the audience is up dancin' (really dancin') they need the kind of bass that you can feel, not just hear. Thats what Pete gives us.
Neil ThomasNeil began songwriting whilst still at school and auditioned for his first gigging band in 1988. Whilst predominantly influenced by rock (and one or two dodgy 80s goth bands) Neil also listens to blues, jazz, classical, and reggae - deppending on the mood.
He claims that whenever he needs to exercise his range, he turns to Stevie Wonder. "Stevie is the Master! Not only has he written some amazing music, but to follow his vocal melodies really does give you an excellent vocal workout"
Although Amnesia is purely a covers band, Neil is a prolific songwriter and has written and recorded over 200 songs. Find out more about Neils solo work by visiting his website at
