Introduction
Welcome to the official Amnesia website. A place to keep you informed and up-to-date on the latest shinanigins of this very live band from West Yorkshire. Amnesia was formed by Bob and a group of like-minded individuals yonks ago. It is now in its 8th incarnation after various members have moved on and, like Trigger's Brush, after 4 guitarists, 3 vocalists and a couple of bass players, it is essentially the same band...
...now where was I? Oh yes, they’re a group of guys from the Baildon, Eldwick and Guiseley area with a shared interest in Rock, R ‘n’ B and Blues.
No rehearsal band status for them. They like to get out and play for an audience and that’s what gives them the buzz. That’s not to say that they don’t rehearse (even if at times it sounds that way!). Keeping the music and the set list fresh is a challenge they all relish and all the band members contribute new ideas to keep the audience guessing. It’s this approach that keeps rehearsals interesting and each gig a challenge as a new song is aired for the first time.
Another thing the band likes to do is keep the mix of influences in the set as varied as possible both in terms of musical genre and vintage. This why you’ll find Nancy Sinatra and Led Zepp numbers cheek by jowl, as it were.
Venues are mainly pubs, but the band also performs at weddings, birthdays, socials and other special occasions as requested. With a big PA system, lighting and other effects, the band copes with any situation that’s thrown at them. And with a wide range of pre-recorded material, keeping a function going all evening doesn’t present a problem either.
By maintaining a relentless playing schedule the band is becoming increasingly well-known and on top of their game. But, as all the band members would agree, it’s about enjoying themselves as much as anything and they hope that the audience feels part of that too.
